There is nothing worse than producing a perfect eye look, only to find that it creases and has you looking like a panda 2 hours later. UGH. Why can’t that perfect eye shadow just last till the sun comes up! Why do those little wrinkles appear a few hours after applying!

Well, you actually can have crease-free eyeshadow. It just takes a bit more work. But hey, for an eye look that is just as A+ in a late night selfie as it is the minute after you finish it, the effort is worth it, right?

The thing that people forget about eyelids, is that they need priming. Think about it – eyelids are constantly moving and rubbing as your eye opens and closes, right? Plus, many people find their eyelids are a bit greasier than the rest of their skin. By prepping your lids, you’ll be creating a smoother base to add your shadow. And that means less chance of it moving around once you’re finished.

Step 1:
Start by removing all the oil on your lids with a dry cotton wipe before applying a primer. Make sure you’re gently blotting it off, not wiping – eyelids are delicate, easily irritated skin!

Step 2:
Apply a primer all over your eyelid, blending evenly. Loads of brands make eyeshadow primers now, but this Urban Decay one is a favourite of mine.

Step 3:
Next, dust your eyelids with a translucent powder. I find this sets my primer and takes away any stickiness, so when I apply my powder eyeshadow, it glides across the lid without looking muddy. If you’re working with a cream eyeshadow though, you can go ahead and skip this step!

Step 4

Now you’re ready to apply your fave eyeshadows and #slay. This palette is one of my faves, because there are so many great shades in it, and it literally smells like cake (who doesn’t love cake?).

I didn’t know about the translucent powder step. I’ll have to add that in

I love the color tattoos and I find that if i apply them first and then add a powder shadow over the top then I dont have to worry about creasing at all so i tend to use them instead a an eye primer.

Wonderful tips for creaseless eye shadow. I use a primer on lids which is good and like you Cottoncandy19 did not know about translucent powder.

I just use primer under my foundation but I do find I will get creasing with my shadow

Terrific advice! I like to use a good eye shadow so that its has good staying power. I don’t really have a primer for my eye’s but I want to, and the Mecca Eyeshadow Primer Potion sounds and looks like a good one to purchase.

Sometimes I’m not as liberal with my eye cream if I’m going to do more of an eyeshadow look because I might be going somewhere special. I also might use an eye primer – I like the Benefit one but I think there are some cheaper one’s that are just as good.

Great tips!! I use a matt primer abd that seems to work ok but I don’t wear too much eye shadow so it doesn’t bother me much.
