There is nothing worse than producing a perfect eye look, only to find that it creases and has you looking like a panda 2 hours later. UGH. Why can’t that perfect eye shadow just last till the sun comes up! Why do those little wrinkles appear a few hours after applying!
Well, you actually can have crease-free eyeshadow. It just takes a bit more work. But hey, for an eye look that is just as A+ in a late night selfie as it is the minute after you finish it, the effort is worth it, right?
The thing that people forget about eyelids, is that they need priming. Think about it – eyelids are constantly moving and rubbing as your eye opens and closes, right? Plus, many people find their eyelids are a bit greasier than the rest of their skin. By prepping your lids, you’ll be creating a smoother base to add your shadow. And that means less chance of it moving around once you’re finished.
Start by removing all the oil on your lids with a dry cotton wipe before applying a primer. Make sure you’re gently blotting it off, not wiping – eyelids are delicate, easily irritated skin!
Apply a primer all over your eyelid, blending evenly. Loads of brands make eyeshadow primers now, but this Urban Decay one is a favourite of mine.
Next, dust your eyelids with a translucent powder. I find this sets my primer and takes away any stickiness, so when I apply my powder eyeshadow, it glides across the lid without looking muddy. If you’re working with a cream eyeshadow though, you can go ahead and skip this step!
Now you’re ready to apply your fave eyeshadows and #slay. This palette is one of my faves, because there are so many great shades in it, and it literally smells like cake (who doesn’t love cake?).
