These lipsticks suit everyone, so naturally we want them all

Ever seen a celebrity or social media star wearing a gorgeous red lip, and you completely fall in love with the shade? You rush to the shops to buy one for yourself, but when you get home and try it out – what looked 10/10 on the celebrity looks average at best on you.
Well, money wasting be damned because the internet has spoken, and they’ve whittled down a world full of lipstick shades to these allegedly suit-anyone hues. “The internet” here is viral website Reddit, where a thread discovered by Allure titled “What’s your everyone-should-have-this lipstick?” has accrued over 400 comments and counting.
Currently at the top of the list? Cliniques iconic Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. If you were around for the 90’s you’d already be across this unique shade – in the tube it looks so purple, it’s almost black. But once applied, the shade is more of a sheer, dark cherry. “It’s flattering on everyone, the formula isn’t drying,” writes a Reddit user.
In the nudes category is Kat von D’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in Lovecraft. The matte mauve/pink is the natural nude you’ve been looking everywhere for – and Reddit users agree.
Sephora makes it into the most-loved category with their Cream Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve – this one isn’t available in Oz at the moment, but their Rouge Infusion Lip Stain range is, and Dusty Rose is a close dupe for Marvelous Mauve.
Anyone who is a Mac lipstick fan is across the wonder that is Ruby Woo, the rich red matte that’s so pigmented, it needs only one swipe. “It’s like the perfect lipstick for any skin tone, and that finish! Makes me giddy just thinking about it. It’s the first lipstick I fully used up.” wrote one user.
Although some users have pointed out that a “universally flattering” lip shade is pretty much an impossible feat. “People’s undertones, shades, and colourings are just so different!” one writes. “I would’ve saved a lot of my money early on if I didn’t run out and try to get every “universally flattering” colour.”
